Learning the Ropes: My First Days on the Team
Hi everyone! I’m Hannah Dombrowski, a Philly-area local and the new Marketing Intern here at Novick. I recently earned my associate degree in business administration and am working toward my bachelor’s in marketing. What really draws me to marketing is the sweet spot where creativity meets audience behavior; understanding what makes people click, connect, and engage with a brand. I am excited to be a part of the Novick team!
My path to Novick started with a chance encounter! I reconnected with Kelly Honer, one of Novick’s childcare specialists, while working at the grocery store. Fun fact: she was my kindergarten principal back in child care. I asked if there were any internship opportunities available, and after navigating the hiring process and balancing school, here I am as part of the Novick crew! Before my first day, Kelly assured me that Novick was a kind, welcoming environment where questions are always encouraged, and she couldn’t have been more right.
Stepping into my first day, I was nervous. Having never worked in an office setting before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But my manager, Mary, immediately showed me the ropes, making sure I had all the tools, supplies, and system access I needed. Throughout the day, I met team members from different departments who were all genuinely welcoming. Big appreciation to Kelly, Mary, Erinn, and Matt for guiding me through onboarding and dropping so many helpful tips along the way! Right out of the gate, I dove into my initial projects:
- Social Media & Metrics: Creating posts and analyzing engagement metrics to understand what content resonates most with our audience.
- Understanding Our Brand: Learning what makes a Novick client unique and how we stand out as a childcare solutions partner.
- Mastering Internal Tools: Getting hands-on experience with platforms like Salesforce, online ordering platforms and more.
As an aspiring marketing specialist, truly understanding your target audience is everything. It’s not just about knowing who they are, but understanding their pain points, building consistent brand trust, and creating social content that is human. I’m eager to keep sharpening these skills, trying new strategies, and growing alongside the Novick team!
